Happy to have been invited . . . this is a good rest stop on the way to Heaven for a person like me.
You might have guessed I'm a singer . . . the fancy name's contralto, but I'm a "shouting alto," assistant choir director (my church has four little
choirs that should just get themselves together, literally . . . but that's in the Lord's good time), composer, arranger, pianist and music
businessperson, loving up on places to be with people of like mind. Spirituals, jazz, blues, gospel . . . I'm all over all of it, and constantly
trolling for new things to bring to my choirs and my friends' choirs (although I'll tell you, if you try to bring some bonafide African rhythm into
some Black churches, you might want to plan your exit route first!). So, I'm looking forward to being around here -- and I promise I won't shout any
more than is absolutely necessary!
